Alivey turns a photo of a real plush toy into a 3D character you can talk to. That needs a photo and a voice, so this page is specific about what happens to both.
Alivey is operated by the team behind alivey.ai. For any privacy question, or to exercise any right described here, email jakob@alivey.ai.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Device identifier A random value created by the app on first launch. |
It is how the service knows which plushies and settings are yours. It is not an advertising identifier and is not shared. | Until you delete your data or uninstall the app. |
| Photos of toys The picture you take of your plush toy. |
To run an automated safety check, and to generate the 3D model of your character. | Stored with the character it produced; deleted when you delete it. |
| Voice Audio while you hold the microphone button. |
Streamed live so your character can hear you and reply. It is transcribed to text so the character can build a short memory of things worth remembering. | Audio is not stored. Transcripts are deleted within 48 hours, after being condensed into a short memory summary. |
| Typed messages The text chat with your character. |
To reply, and to feed the same memory summary. | Same as transcripts. |
| Email address Only if you sign in with Apple or Google. |
So we can reach you about your plushies and your account. Optional. | Until you delete your data. |
| Usage analytics Which screens are opened, which features are used, whether things fail. |
To find out what is broken and what is worth building. These events carry no name, email, photo, or message content. | Up to 12 months. |
| Purchase records What was bought and when, tied to a pseudonymous identifier. |
To unlock what you paid for, and because purchase records must be kept for accounting and refunds. | Retained after deletion — see below. |
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers, we do not build advertising profiles, and there is no third-party advertising in Alivey.
Your photos and conversations are not used to train AI models. They are sent to our AI providers only to answer the request in front of them.
Alivey is built on services that handle parts of the work. Each receives only what that job needs.
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| OpenAI | The live voice conversation, the automated photo safety check, and condensing transcripts into a memory summary. |
| Tripo | Turns the photo into a 3D model. Receives the photo only. |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, database and file storage. Everything we store is stored here. |
| PostHog | Product analytics. Receives usage events only, hosted in the EU. |
| RevenueCat | Manages subscriptions and purchases. |
| Apple, Google | App distribution and payments, and sign-in if you choose to use it. |
Some of these providers are in the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where that happens, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
Every photo is checked automatically before it is turned into a character. The check is deliberately strict, and if it cannot reach a confident decision, it refuses. A refused photo is not stored and no character is created from it. This is why an ordinary photo is occasionally rejected — the check is designed to fail toward "no".
Open the app, go to Profile, scroll to For grown-ups, and tap Delete everything.
That deletes, immediately and permanently: your characters and their 3D models, the photos they were made from, every conversation and transcript, your memory summaries, your settings and streak history, and your email address if you gave us one.
Two things deliberately survive:
You can also email jakob@alivey.ai and we will do it for you.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how it is used, and receive a copy of it. The in-app deletion above covers deletion instantly; for anything else, email jakob@alivey.ai and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Our legal bases are: performing the contract with you (running the app you asked for), our legitimate interests (keeping the service safe and working, and understanding how it is used), your consent (optional sign-in), and legal obligation (keeping purchase records).
Alivey is not directed to children under 13, and you must confirm you are at least 13 to create a character. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used Alivey and given us their information, email jakob@alivey.ai and we will delete it.
Alivey is a plush toy companion, and children may well be nearby or playing with it alongside an adult. If you are handing your phone to a child, please read the Safety Guidelines — they explain what the character can and cannot do.
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is limited to the people who operate the service. No system is perfect, and we will tell affected users without undue delay if a breach ever puts their data at risk.
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
